Our Purpose
Translating expertise into influence, without losing who you are
The Story Of Mindtap
Laura Flessner never planned to start a business.
It was November 2020. She'd been at Pfizer for over a decade, in the favorite role of her 17 year career. Then a joint venture restructure eliminated the position.
Sometimes you need a push to step outside the box.
Instead of looking for the next role, Laura asked a different question: not "what am I qualified for?" — but "What kind of support do I wish I had, through my career?"
That question became Mindtap.
What I Believe
-
Leadership is a system.
Not a title or a personality. A system of how decisions, influence, and ideas move.
-
Difference is the advantage.
We don't help you fit a mold. We help you use what makes you different.
-
Mind mastery is the foundation
Leadership is 80% mind mastery, 20% strategy. The inner game is most of the game.
About your coach Laura Flesnner
My career started with nearly two decades in corporate innovation — engineer, product designer, insights leader, and new venture founder — across top global consumer goods and pharma companies including Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, and GSK.
For a long time, I thought capability was the whole game.
I was getting great performance reviews. Solving hard problems. Trusted with the work. And still not advancing the way the work suggested I should.
I'm a woman, Asian, an introvert — someone who looked younger than I was in rooms where that mattered. For years I wondered how much of the gap was about how I was being seen.
But the real shift came when I stopped asking "what else should I be doing?" and started asking "how does this actually work?"
Because being excellent and being seen as a leader are not the same thing.
Capability builds trust. Influence shapes what happens next. And nobody had ever taught me the difference.
So I learned it. How decisions get made. How influence moves. How ideas gain traction — or don't. How perception shapes opportunity. I built a methodology out of it, grounded in applied neuroscience and the innovation processes I'd spent a career using.
That's the work I do now as the Leadership Translator: helping high-performing professionals and senior leaders turn expertise into influence and difference into advantage — without becoming someone they're not.
