My biggest fail? Read on.

My biggest fail Read on.

The ‘No’ felt personal. The disappointment did too.

We’d spent hours preparing a new idea. It was a bold proposal. Something that could move our organization into a whole new space.

But what we got back was a clear and firm rejection.

What did we miss? Our decision-maker (the president) had deep experience in that space, and we didn’t.

He knew exactly what success would require. He knew that our company wasn’t set up for it. And we didn’t.

I felt embarrassed. It felt so obvious, after the fact. How could we overlook something so big?

I was incredibly frustrated with myself for not asking the right questions. I was frustrated with the amount of time and effort we spent on this idea, for it not to work.

I wanted to walk away from the whole thing.

But… a tiny feeling wouldn’t let me. We were on to something. My gut knew it.

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”

So, instead of throwing it all away, we got curious.

What exactly was the issue?

Was the whole idea flawed?

Turns out – it wasn’t.

It came down to one thing: the size of the product.

We adjusted that parameter. And when we came back?

We got a Yes!

And not just a Yes – We got a Budget. Support. Momentum.

Sometimes, a rejection isn’t about your whole idea.

It’s about one piece that’s not quite aligned.

→ Stay open to feedback.

→ Don’t let a No stop you.

→ Keep refining until the pieces click.

It wasn’t a failure.

It was leadership in motion.

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”
