Your time is valuable. But if it’s your focus?
Big mistake.
Leadership isn’t about how much time you put in.
It’s the value you create.
If you’re measuring:
→ Hours worked
→ Certifications earned
→ Years of experience
→ The number of meetings
You’re focused on the wrong things.
Leaders don’t “clock in” and “check the box”.
(Even if that’s part of your job)
Leaders show up and create impact.
The best leaders I know?
Aren’t the busiest.
They’re the most intentional.
“Don’t mistake activity with achievement.”
In 1:1s with my manager, I used to share:
– documents I created
– meetings I attended
– conversations I had
But that wasn’t what she really wanted to know.
→ How do the insights in the document shift the business?
→ What decisions were made in those meetings, and why?
→ Who’s now supporting the project, because I engaged them?
It forced me to focus on what actually moves the needle.
Because you don’t build leadership by staying busy.
You build it by creating results.
So, if you’ve been tracking time?
Start tracking transformation.
Because managers doesn’t reward the most “available.” (except with more work…)
They reward the most effective.
That’s the difference between activity and impact.
“Don’t mistake activity with achievement.”
