The Shortcut to Career Clarity

Logic will get you far. But (weirdly) it can limit your thinking.

I see this with many professionals: They power through on willpower, discipline, and responsibility. And they succeed.

That was my client, Sarah.

She was offered a new role, more responsibility, more visibility.

From the outside, it looked like the obvious next step.

But on the inside… She wasn’t so sure.

She didn’t feel excited. And started asking: Is this really what I want?

Additionally, she’d always dreamed of starting her own business. But she didn’t know if now was the right time.

So we did something different. We tapped into more brain functions. Not just the logic center of the brain (prefrontal cortex),

but also the limbic system, which drives emotion, motivation, and connection.

When we engaged both, her thinking expanded. We opened new neural pathways that the brain hadn’t formed yet.

And that’s when the clarity came.

“Clarity comes from knowing what you want and moving in the direction of it.”

Sarah uncovered her mission: To inspire women in cybersecurity.

When she measured her choices against her mission, the choices that were unclear before… The right decision became obvious.

She found a new role in a new company that used her expertise, aligned with her purpose, and gave her momentum toward her bigger mission & vision.

Here’s the science behind it:

When we lead only with logic (eg, pros/cons),

We engage the brain’s prefrontal cortex, planning and reasoning.

But purpose lights up even more.

It activates the limbic system, the network that processes emotion, motivation, and connection. That’s what brings clarity and energy.

When purpose is present, the brain releases what I call the “happiness trifecta”,

dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. They’re the neurotransmitters that fuel motivation, well-being, and trust.

No wonder Sarah felt so clear and energized about her next chapter.

Logic creates options.

But purpose creates clarity.

And that’s the shift that moves us forward.

“Clarity comes from knowing what you want and moving in the direction of it.”
