5 Mindsets to Success

November 29, 2023

A common thing that most professionals have backward:

We focus on the things we can do, thinking it’s 80% of what matters.

But it turns out… it’s flipped.

Leadership is:

80% Mind Mastery

20% Skills & Strategy

"Successful people don’t have any fewer problems than unsuccessful people; they just have a different mindset in dealing with them." - John C. Maxwell an American author, speaker, and pastor

Here are 5 mindsets that will help your success:

1/ Celebrate small wins and learn from your missteps.

→ Example: Reflect on your impact in meetings, iterate and keep on going.

2/ Show up regularly with genuine engagement.

→ Example: Commit to being fully present, not multi-tasking (even virtually).

3/ Success lies in the connections you cultivate.

→ Example: Create a collaborative space with deep listening and empathy.

4/ Stay open to possibilities – be willing to tweak your strategy as needed.

→ Example: Experiment with new ideas, and learn what works and what doesn’t.

5/ Remember to zoom out and see the big picture – stay true to your end goal.

→ Example: Revisit your vision when you feel demotivated and remind yourself of the impact you want to create.

I dove deep into #5 this week in a 1:1 coaching session.

I reminded this amazing leader that as a leader, you can’t rely on external validation or others to immediately jump on board.

It’s up to you to re-motivate yourself to keep going. Because you’re the one with the vision, the idea. You own it. And it’s your role as leader, no matter your title, to keep it going.

Continue to shine bright my friend ✨
