I used to think time was what I needed to manage.
Time for work.
Time for meal prep.
Time for soccer practice.
Time for relationships.
Time for exercise.
Time for me.
But I realize now, there’s something more important than time.
It’s your ENERGY.
"Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you’re going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and by maintaining focus."
Know which things:
– take energy away
– give you more energy
This way, you can be more thoughtful with your most valuable resource.
I’ve also learned a weird thing about energy… Things that take your energy aren’t necessarily bad. They can be really good. Some examples for me:
– social interaction = building relationships
– making mistakes = learning
– speaking = helping others
I love the impact and value they bring.
But I know I need to refuel before or after I do them.
Here, I’m refueling watching my kids at soccer practice…
and then giving my energy to writing LinkedIn posts.
This give and take looks different for each person.
And in some cases, what works for someone will be the exact opposite for another.
Be a student of your own energy.
Experiment.
Learn.
Adjust.
So you can find that balance…
Where the matches the energy that comes in.
energy that goes out,
“Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you’re going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and by maintaining focus.”
