He messed up… big time.

He messed up... big time.

Rob dropped the ball.

And realized it at 9PM the night before. @$&#!

A friend told me his story and I had to share it.

He was planning an event. People were flying in. Logistics were sorted. Agenda, communication, timing – checked.

But one thing wasn’t. The venue.

He realized he checked availability, but didn’t actually confirm the reservation.

What happened?

His grandfather passed away during the planning. His mind was split. He was grieving and doing his best to deal with it all.

Rob thought that item was taken care of… and didn’t have the capacity to double-check.

The people he had checked with – they hadn’t followed up either.

But here’s the powerful part:

He didn’t panic.

He didn’t blame.

He didn’t deflect.

He accepted the situation as it was, and took responsibility.

He accepted the situation as it was, and took responsibility.

Rob faced the problem, head on. Even if his actions had created it. He picked up the phone. Made calls. Reworked the plan.

And with the support of others, he pulled it off. They found ways to make it work.  The event was a success.

Not because everything went perfectly.

But because he responded with ownership and calm.

Here’s the reminder:

→ Mistakes will happen.

→ What matters most is how you move forward.

→ Give yourself (and others) the grace to do just that.

That’s leadership.

Messy. Human. Real.
