Say Yes To What’s Important

Say Yes To What's Important

The holidays are a BUSY time of year. There’s decorating, special celebrations, gift planning, purchasing, and giving…. all while you keep the normal

day-to-day running both at work and at home!

It’s certainly a wonderful time of year… but I get tired just thinking about it!

This is why it is important, now more than ever, to set and keep boundaries. So you can focus on what’s truly important, to you.

As a business owner, a mom of 3 kids and 2 dogs, a supportive wife, and a church leader… I had to learn the only way to “do it all”, was to choose what “all”

meant to me.

And then I had to protect it, by saying No to everything else.

Except… I would try to talk myself out of saying No.

My brain kept telling me:

1. You will feel guilty

2. You really want to help

3. It’s a great opportunity

4. You don’t want to miss out

5. You’re embarrassed you can’t

6. You don’t want to burn bridges

7. Everyone expects you to say “yes”

But there’s 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 to say No.

“Saying no can be the ultimate self-care.”

Saying No to things whether they’re opportunities or distractions is so powerful.

Here’s 10 reasons why you want to start doing this now:

1. It preserves your time and energy.

You only have so much.

2. It prevents burnout.

Which is so prevalent in the workplace culture today.

3. It increases yourself respect.

It shows up for what is important to you.

4. It improves your decision making.

It shows what you want to do and what you don’t.

5. It actually strengthens your relationships.

It increases respect for what you are willing and are able to do.

6. It encourages personal growth.

Especially if this is hard for you, saying No a really great skill to strengthen.

7. It improves your focus.

Especially for things that are important to you.

8. It reduces the guilt of people pleasing.

When you learn how to do this well, you are able to actually help others while saying No, at the same time.

9. It promotes assertiveness.

It shows your confidence and where you’re willing to stand your ground.

10. It fosters authenticity.

You’re not just doing what everyone else wants you to do. You know what you want and need to do.

Make your holidays less stressful and more meaningful, by mastering this skill of saying No.

“Saying no can be the ultimate self-care.”
