When stuck between a rock and hard place…

When stuck between a rock and hard place…

It was so frustrating… and disheartening.

When I was working at Pfizer, I received really wonderful reviews. My work capacity was higher than my peers (I got more done).

I could work with any personality (even the tough ones). And the feedback was glowing.

But no promotion.

I had poured everything into my job. And there was no doubt people appreciated me. But… it wasn’t enough for career movement.

It was a brutal wake-up call.

My kids were very young at the time… and I felt like I had to stick it out. With the chaos at home (if you know, you know 😆) – I needed the stability at work.

So I didn’t look for a new role. I relented and waited.

But then, I boosted my career by accident.

And then… by design.

I started pursuing my ideas—I had nothing else to lose.

And found, it unlocked my career.

My new mission?

To make a difference, where it was most needed.

If my idea could help my team at work, it was worth it.

Well… it turned out that my idea helped over 65 teams in the first year.

And transformed a side passion project → into a promotion.

After that, I used the very same strategy to create the company I run today.

“Everybody is standing, but you must stand out. Everybody is breaking grounds; but you must break through! Dare to be exceptionally excellent and why not?”

The strategy?

1. Pick an idea you’re excited about

Your passion boosts your performance.

2. And fits with company priorities

I picked something important to management.

3. Share out broadly

Past rejections, kept going, and found support.

4. Pitch, before the pitch

Know you’ll get a Yes, before the proposal presentation.

Being held back taught me one key lesson:

When you feel stuck… There’s always another way out (and up).

Now, I coach others, when they feel stuck how to be like water and find the way forward.

“Everybody is standing, but you must stand out.
Everybody is breaking grounds; but you must break through!
Dare to be exceptionally excellent and why not?”
